When Tchaikovsky was young, you couldn't really be a successful musician in Russia. He loved music, but his parents sent him to a boarding school so he could become a government worker. Once he was an adult, Russia opened its first music school, so he left his government job to learn everything he could about music. He became one of Russia's very first famous composers!
Tchaikovsky wrote the music for a famous Christmas ballet called "The Nutcracker". This is one of the songs from that ballet. It's called "Trepak" or "Russian Dance".

This is probably the best-known song from the Nutcracker, called "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy". It uses a piano-like instrument with bells inside called a celeste. In the video on the right, you can follow along with your fingers.
